Day 22: Texas Last Diet
I had a mango shake this morning, and it was really, really good. So easy to take in the car as I went out to do some photography work.
Lunch was a bit more relaxed than usual, as we were actually in the office. I make sure to keep enough food there to be able to have either a breakfast, lunch or dinner there. I had the chicken noodle soup from Ideal Protein, with a salad that included both a cup of broccoli, and a cup of mushrooms. Because Vikki indicated that I needed a bit more protein, I also had a fried egg with my lunch as well. I hoped that adding the extra bit to my lunch would give me more energy in the middle of the afternoon. I usually get crazy hungry at about 3:00 PM. Today wasn't bad, so perhaps the egg in the afternoon is helping.
We had a friend come in town from Russia, and he was only in Houston for one night. We took him out to dinner, and then on to a couple of clubs, so I figured this would be a huge test for me as far as the diet. We got to the restaurant, and I noticed that they had an 8 ounce cheeseburger option. So I got the hamburger patty, with no cheese and no bun. Then I was able to substitute the fries with steamed veggies (green beans, zucchini, and peppers). I thought they might be slathered in butter or something, but I think they were fine. The only thing I don't know, is what sort of spices or additives they put in the burger meat. Anyway, I think I dodged a bullet at the restaurant, and I was able to have a nice meal with friends, and feel like I wasn't someone in the midst of some horrible diet. That was really refreshing. Then, at the clubs, water was free, so I had a really nice evening out, and I don't think I broke the diet in any way. That really means a lot to me, because I have become so introspective and obsessive about the diet that it was quite nice to know I could do the things I enjoy, without denying the person I want to be.
Home super late, but still had my cheesy cracker snack before hitting the pillow. And the best part about tonight is that tomorrow, there will be no hangover whatsoever.
