Day 23: Texas Last Diet
Today we were playing catch-up in the office all day. I had an omelet for breakfast, but since I get a bit of a "dried eggs" taste from the Ideal Protein packet, I diced a little bell pepper and chives to add to the mixture, and seasoned with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Then I just treated it like scrambled eggs, and it was really pretty tasty. The fresh veggies took away that "instant" taste. I do the same thing with the soup packets. Just throw in a bit of chopped chives, a tiny bit of ginger, just to take away that "instant" flavor. The soups are really good, but I don't think it would fool anyone into thinking it was fresh.Lunch was predictable, but good. Soup (with chives) and chopped bell pepper and broccoli in a salad. I ended up putting the broccoli into the soup as well, but I'm not convinced that was so great an idea. It just tasted like gravy on veggies... not bad, but a little odd. Oh yes, and I had a fried egg with my meal for my extra protein.
We made it home for dinner, so I took some chicken breasts and scored them so they'd cook faster. I threw them into a pan with a little oil, and browned the chicken up. Then I added a bit of water, and the soy sauce replacement, Liquid Aminos, and tossed in some broccoli, bell pepper and cherry tomatoes. I added salt, pepper, rosemary, garlic powder, Italian herbs, and fresh basil from the plant on my patio. I covered that, and threw it in the oven for an hour at 400 degrees. Then dumped the mixture in a bowl. It was really tasty, and the rosemary make the whole thing much better. It's definitely something I would do again.
Watched a bit of TV, ate my cheesy cracker packet, and now I'm off to bed. I followed the diet more closely today, in that I ate all my veggies at the right time. I think I feel less hungry. My breath isn't as bad today, so I hope that doesn't mean I'm out of ketosis.
