After the hurricane, we ended up with no electricity for a couple of days, and no internet for a couple more. I wasn't able to keep up with the blog. The odd part about being on the diet during a disaster was that, when everyone else was worried about what to eat, I just opened a silver packet and I was pretty well good to go. We would go to the grocery store and almost everything was gone. All the soft drinks, all the bread, all the processed lunch meat and chips... all gone. No one wanted to buy anything that required refrigeration, because so many of us were without power. My parents live across the street, and they have a generator... so we didn't have much of a problem there. So the only thing left in the store was vegetables, and meat. Which is precisely the only reason I go to the store in the first place. I was horrified with all the devastation in the community, but the diet part wasn't a problem at all. Nothing much to report on the food, but I did do some stuffed bell peppers, with beef and cauliflower rice, that were really very good. The other days were just us systematically eating up whatever we still had in the fridge or freezer while we waited out the storms and floods.
